Retail Sales at Bookstores Down in June [3]

Retail sales at bookstores were down by 7.5 percent in June 2014 compared to June 2013, according to preliminary figures recently released by the Bureau of the Census.

June 2014 bookstore sales are estimated at $703 million, compared to sales of $760 million for the same period last year.

Total retail and food service sales in June are estimated at $438.7 billion, compared to $420.5 billion in June 2013, an increase of 4.3 percent.
