Man Booker International Prize to Focus on Books in Translation

Starting in 2016, the Man Booker International Prize will join with the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize [10] and will change its focus to books in translation, the Booker Prize Foundation announced on Monday.

The new prize will be awarded to one book translated into English and published in the U.K. It will retain the name the Man Booker International Prize but will now be awarded annually [11], as opposed to every two years.

The judges’ panel will be chaired by Boyd Tonkin, senior writer for the Independent, which is a sponsor of the prize. Judges will announce a longlist of 12 to 13 novels or short story collections in March 2016, and a shortlist of six books will be announced in April. The winner will be announced in May.
