How to Use BookWeb’s Bookseller DIY Feature [5]

Bookseller DIY is the first section to be featured in Bookselling This Week’s new series of articles on getting the most out of the association’s website. Stay tuned for more BookWeb how-to features in the weeks to come.

[7]BookWeb’s Designs & Downloads [8] section is a repository for all digital resources offered to members, including ABA education materials, bestseller lists, web copy, and promotional images. The Bookseller DIY [7] is one of seven clickable headings that can be found by hovering over the Designs & Downloads tab at the top of the BookWeb homepage. [9] The others include Advocacy, Banned Books Week, Education, IndieCommerce, Kobo, and Membership.

The DIY section of Designs & Downloads provides downloadable images, designs, banners, and logos for members to use on their store websites or to create marketing materials, ranging from posters to bookmarks to fliers.

Director of ABA Technology Greg Galloway noted that the DIY section has recently undergone a redesign. Instead of each DIY category being visually represented by an image thumbnail, each is now represented by a folder. The images have been grouped in the folders in a way that Galloway hopes will be more helpful to members. The new folder headings include ABA Logos, ABA Promotions, Books and Reading, Children’s, Holidays, Indie Store, IndieBound, Seasonal, Why Indies Matter, Awards, and Small Business.

The different subsections in each DIY folder appear in the sidebar menu when a bookseller clicks on DIY under Designs & Downloads. Another way to find specific DIY materials is to look up a keyword using the “Site Search” feature at the top of the page.

Booksellers also have the option of clicking on the Redbubble.com [10]link at the top of the DIY to see IndieBound designs currently available for purchase on T-shirts, tote bags, and other promotional items directly from Redbubble.

Questions about using any of the materials in the DIY, as well as requests to have additional designs added to Redbubbble, should be addressed to Galloway [11].

Booksellers are also encouraged to check out the new holiday designs [12] for 2016 now available in the DIY.
