For the ninth consecutive season, publishers are offering specials on 10 adult titles and 10 children’s titles [6] chosen by panels of ABA member booksellers from across the U.S. as the top debuts of the upcoming publishing season.

The Winter/Spring 2017 Indies Introduce program features a great selection of fiction and nonfiction for adults and for middle grade and young adult readers, all publishing between January and May 2017.

Booksellers all face daunting to-be-read piles, said Cynthia Compton of 4 Kids Books & Toys [7], chair of the Middle Grade/Young Adult Debut panel, but there’s nothing quite like reading through a brand new manuscript and then talking about it with equally passionate and excited booksellers.

“We had an embarrassment of riches to read through this summer — more than 60 titles — that we pored over and through, and then narrowed to a list of truly great hand-sellers for our fellow indie stores. It’s not an easy process, but it’s an incredibly rewarding one,” said Compton.

For stores that have taken part in past Indies Introduce promotions, there’s no need to sign up to take advantage of publishers’ Winter/Spring offers; however, stores that are new to Indies Introduce must complete the Indies Introduce sign-up form [6] by October 31 in order to participate in the program.

To access the list of titles with bookseller blurbs and full details on publishers’ offers, booksellers will need a BookWeb.org login name and password. (Booksellers can sign in or create a new password here [8].) The Indies Introduce logo is available for download in BookWeb’s DIY [9] and sell sheets will be included in the October Red Box mailing.

Booksellers planning to attend their region’s fall trade show [10] can stop by ABA’s booth to check out the newest crop of titles and leave a business card if they are interested in reading on a future Indies Introduce panel.
