ABA Announces Promotions for Sydney Jarrard and Daniel O’Brien [2]

Recent staff promotions on the American Booksellers Association’s content and membership teams recognize the hard work and expanded roles of two key staff members: Sydney Jarrard and Daniel O’Brien.

“With these changes, ABA will be able to strengthen our content and communications for members and the industry as well as sharpen our focus on quickly responding to member needs,” said ABA CEO Oren Teicher. “It is particularly satisfying to be able to promote from within and to be able to reward the hard work of two of our colleagues.”

Sydney JarrardJarrard is being promoted to the newly created position of ABA Content Director. In addition to her current responsibilities overseeing the production of ABA’s newsletter, Bookselling This Week, Jarrard will now also supervise and manage all content creation for BookWeb.org and oversee ABA social media initiatives as well as overall member communications. In her new role, she will ensure that ABA maintains consistency in voice and messaging across all channels.

As part of the new content department, ABA Graphic Designer Melissa Napolitano will join the team and report to Jarrard along with ABA Senior Writer/Researcher Liz Button, Junior Writer/Researcher Emily Behnke, and digital marketing management company Two Cats Communications.

Daniel O'Brien

O’Brien is being promoted to Senior Membership Manager. In his new role, O’Brien will supervise all facets of the membership department, with a renewed focus on the association’s membership database, while maintaining some of his existing Member Relationship Manager responsibilities.

Reporting to O’Brien are Member Relationship Manager Liz Roberts and Membership and Office Assistant Kate Brennan. ABA will also be hiring a Membership & Database Assistant to join the membership team.

In addition to the above realignment, management of ABA’s affinity partnerships will be handled by ABA CFO Robyn DesHotel, with the exception of AddLibra, which will be managed by ABA Director of Technology Greg Galloway.
