Don’t Miss ABA’s Annual Meeting and Town Hall at BookExpo [5]

The American Booksellers Association will hold its Annual Membership Meeting [7] on Thursday, May 30, from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in Room 1E12/13/14 of the Javits Convention Center during BookExpo 2019 [8].

The meeting agenda includes the formal announcement of ABA’s election results, reports from the Board of Directors and executive staff on the association’s activities over the past year, as well as updates on new and ongoing initiatives. In advance of the meeting and town hall, ABA’s latest Consolidated Financial Statements [9], Governance Review Committee Report [10], and tax form 990 [11]have been made available to members in the Governance section of BookWeb [12].

The Annual Meeting will be preceded by the Town Hall, from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., also in Javits’ Room 1E12/13/14. The Town Hall provides booksellers with the opportunity to express their opinions and concerns and to share ideas with ABA Board members and staff in a less formal setting.

The ABA Member Lounge will be closed during both the Town Hall and Annual Meeting. All ABA members are encouraged to attend; at the meeting, booksellers will receive a handout [13]with the ABA ends policies and a list of key action steps taken toward addressing issues raised at previous Town Halls.

To provide an opportunity for as many members as possible to speak during the Town Hall, a sign-up sheet will be prominently displayed starting Wednesday morning, May 29, in the ABA Member Lounge, located on the trade show floor at Booth 2962. Booksellers will be called upon to speak at the Town Hall in the order in which they sign up.

Questions about the Town Hall and/or the Annual Membership meetings should be addressed to [email protected]. [14]
