Live Marketing Meetup to be Held at BookExpo [4]

At this year’s BookExpo [6], the American Booksellers Association will present a live Marketing Meetup [7] called “Carrying Your Digital Marketing Campaigns Across Multiple Platforms”; unlike usual Marketing Meetup sessions, this one will not be broadcast on Zoom.us, but take place live and in-person at the BookExpo trade show. All booksellers are invited to attend; no advance signup is needed.

BookExpo 2019 will be held May 29–31 at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. This live Marketing Meetup, on Thursday, May 30, from 9:45 a.m.–10:45 a.m. in Javits’ Room 1E16, will cover multi-platform digital marketing, a growing discipline due to the ever-increasing number of ways to connect audiences with your content.

At this session, three guest booksellers will discuss how they manage digital marketing campaigns and carry them out successfully across their newsletters, blogs, social media platforms, and websites, while at the same time maintaining their store brand and ensuring that all the pieces tie in together seamlessly.

Guest speakers will be Janet Geddis, owner of Avid Bookshop [8] in Athens, Georgia; Alex Houston of Seminary Co-op [9] and 57th Street Books [10] in Chicago, Illinois; and Kelly Justice, owner of Fountain Bookstore [11] in Richmond, Virginia.

“We're fortunate to work in an industry where information, strategy, and tips-and-tricks sharing is the norm,” said guest speaker Houston. “The options for bookstore marketing are constantly changing, but, through trial and error, as well as conversations with other booksellers and partners, we've gleaned some principles and practices that work for us, and are eager to share with others!”

The following Marketing Meetups will adhere to the regular time, schedule, and format: two Thursdays a month at 11:00 a.m. EST. All booksellers are invited to participate in these bookseller-led educational conversations, which are conducted through Zoom.us. Those who would like to participate can sign up on BookWeb.org [7].

Booksellers should also note that BookWeb.org now features a page under the Events tab [7] with a listing of all past and upcoming Marketing Meetups, along with Meetup recaps previously published in Bookselling This Week.
