Reminder: June 6 Marketing Meetup “Best Practices for Marketing Sidelines” [4]

ABA Marketing Meetup logoThe American Booksellers Association will present a new Marketing Meetup for booksellers tomorrow, June 6. At the “Best Practices for Marketing Sidelines” meetup, participants will hear about best practices and general advice for marketing non-book items to customers.

All booksellers are invited to participate in these bookseller-led educational conversations, which are conducted through Zoom.us and held at 11:00 a.m. EST on two Thursdays a month. Booksellers who would like to participate in this or future meetups can sign up on BookWeb.org [6].

During the Marketing Meetup on Thursday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m. EDT, guest booksellers will discuss best practices for marketing sidelines to customers, in light of the fact that non-book items account for an estimated 18 percent of bookstore sales. Booksellers will also talk about some popular non-book items and other less popular ones. Guest speakers will include Nicole Sullivan of BookBar [7] in Denver, Colorado; Kim Saltzstein of Changing Hands Bookstore [8] in Tempe and Phoenix, Arizona; and Zach Matelski of McLean & Eakin [9] in Petoskey, Michigan, with additional information to be provided on behalf of Vroman’s Bookstore [10] in Pasadena, California.

The following Marketing Meetup will take place on Thursday, June 20, and will serve as the final installment in ABA’s three-part series of Marketing Meetups on topics related to Ingram Spark; this session is titled “Offering Printing & Publishing Services to Your Local Community.”

BookWeb.org features a page under the Events tab [6] with a listing of all past and upcoming Marketing Meetups, along with Meetup recaps previously published in BTW.
