Here’s what’s happening this week in the book industry:

Ingram Content Group has announced it is “actively exploring additional service programs for the western U.S. [5]” due to publisher and retailer concerns regarding West Coast direct distribution options for publishers.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite [6], an augmented reality game from the same developers as Pokémon Go, will launch on Friday, June 21. According to initial reports, local points of interest used in Pokémon Go [7] also appear in Wizards Unite.

Poet, writer, and musician Joy Harjo, who is a member of the Muscogee Creek Nation, has become the first Native American to be named U.S. Poet Laureate. [8]

Author James Patterson will partner with Follett’s [9] “All Books for All Kids” initiative, which made its debut in 2018. Authors from JIMMY Patterson Books will appear at Follett Book Fairs throughout the year.

Lerner Publishing Group will take over all processing [10], warehousing, fulfillment, billing, customer service, and credit and collection for Zest Books titles effective June 24.

Molly Koecher has been named operations manager of [11] Longleaf Services, a subsidiary of the University of North Carolina Press providing fulfillment and publishing services to 18 other university presses.

Michelle Giuseffi has been named publishing manager [12] for the Crown and Tim Duggan Books imprints.

Every Child a Reader has announced the winners [13] and honor books for the 12th Annual Children’s and Teen Choice Book Awards

Severance (FSG) by Ling Ma has won the [14] 2019 NYPL Young Lions Fiction Award.

The Poet X  by Elizabeth Acevedo (HarperTeen) has won the [15] CILIP Carnegie Medal for children’s literature, and The Lost Words, written by Robert Macfarlane and illustrated by Jackie Morris (Hamish Hamilton), has won the CILIP Kate Greenway Medal for excellence in illustration. 

Idaho by Emily Ruskovich (Random House) [16] has won the €100,000 (about $112,890) International Dublin Literary Award.
