Here’s what’s happening this week in the book industry:

Wiley has announced [4] that the company will acquire computer science and STEM education courseware provider Zyante for $56 million.

Deep Vellum has acquired the backlist of two independent publishers [5]: Phoneme Media of Los Angeles and A Strange Object of Austin, Texas. The Dallas-based translation publisher will also now publish books originally written in English.

Quarto has appointed Walter Nolan  [6]as its new chief financial officer, replacing interim CFO Michael Mousley, who had held the job since June 2018. Nolan was previously director of finance at global accounting and advisory network Moore Stephens.

Simon & Schuster has announced that as of [7] August 1, S&S e-books will be available to libraries for two-year terms, with most “new release” e-books priced between $38.99 and $52.99. Previously, S&S e-books were sold on one-year licenses, with some books available for two year licenses.

We Need Diverse Books has announced the 2019 recipients of its WNDB Internship Grants [8], which provide $2,500 to support publishing interns during their internships as well as a two-month public transportation stipend.

As of July 1, Arcadia Publishing’s new warehouse address for returns will be Arcadia Publishing, 101 N. 12th Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Booksellers are invited to e-mail Arcadia Publicity Director Katie Parry [9] with any questions about the change.

Ingram Content Group recently announced two new hires: Abdul Hasanth has joined the company as a client integration specialist in Ingram’s VitalSource office in Milton Keynes, U.K., and Julie Shulz has joined Ingram as director of applications in the company’s La Vergne, Tennessee, office.  

At the Random House GroupChloe Aryeh has been promoted to marketing manager for the  [10]Clarkson Potter, Ten Speed, and Waterbrook gift programs.

Sara Leonard has been promoted to associate publicist [11] and Brianna Linden to senior publicist at Viking Penguin Publicity and Penguin Random House.
