Here’s what’s happening in the world of indie bookstores this week:

At Loyalty Bookstore [5] in Washington, D.C., neighboring restaurant and bar Petworth Citizen is closing and its space is merging with the bookstore [6], with the end goal of integrating the bookstore, bar, and restaurant.

Black Dog Books [7] in Newton, New Jersey, is relocating to Lafayette, New Jersey [8], in February.

Booked [9] in Evanston, Illinois, has welcomed Rachel Round as a co-owner. 

University Book Store [10] in Seattle, Washington, is celebrating 120 years [11].

The Bookshop of Beverly Farms [12] in Beverly, Massachusetts, was featured in an article called “Turning the Page [13].”

Story on the Square [14] in McDonough, Georgia, is “bringing top-notch authors and books [15]” to the city.

Book + Bottle [16] in St. Petersburg, Florida, “seeks to revive the ‘human element’ of shopping local [17].”

The Seattle Times said the city’s Madison Books [18] has “forged an essential role in one of Seattle’s oldest communities.” [19]

Seminary Co-op Bookstore [20] in Chicago, Illinois, was featured in an article called “This store formally declares what it’s actually been for years: A nonprofit [21].”

Between the Covers [22] in Harbor Springs, Michigan, donated 261 books to Wolverine School District students [23].

One More Page Books [24] in Arlington, Virginia, announced the author lineup for the NoVaTEEN Book Festival [25].

Peter Asher, author of The Beatles From A to Zed (Henry Holt and Co.) appeared at Anderson’s Bookshop [26] in Naperville, Illinois.

One More Page Books [24], Bards Alley [27], and Old Town Books [28] were featured on a list of the best bookstores in Northern Virginia [29].

The Last Bookstore [30], Hennessey & Ingalls [31], Skylight Books [32], Children’s Book World [33], and Book Soup [34] were featured on a list of the top bookstores in Los Angeles [35].
