AdventureKEEN’s 2019 “Shop Local, Live Local” campaign raised a total of $5,502 for the Book Industry Charitable Foundation [6] (Binc). A matching $5,502 is being apportioned to the 350+ participating independent bookstores, with checks mailed last week. Participating stores received a rebate on all AdventureKEEN titles purchased as part of the program, and AdventureKEEN allocated the same amount to Binc.

AdventureKEEN President Richard Hunt presented its check to Binc on March 9 in Cincinnati, Ohio. “We applaud the dedication to community that independent booksellers foster,” said Hunt. “Independent bookstores and independent publishers share the same entrepreneurial spirit and the aspirational goal of making every reader happy.”

Binc Executive Director Pam French added, “We are honored to accept this extraordinary gift from AdventureKEEN. Their give-back initiative demonstrates the power one company can have in bringing our industry together to help each other. Many thanks to AdventureKEEN for their vision and commitment and to all the bookstores who participate.”

AdventureKEEN’s “Shop Local, Live Local” program was created to help readers find new outdoor activities and to reinforce the importance of shopping at local bookstores. The ultimate goal of the program is to enlarge the scope of support to Binc and provide an equal-dollar benefit to all participating bookstores.
