Here, the IndieCommerce [5] team shares an important look at current trends in the world of e-commerce.

Although we saw a slight decrease in traffic and sales last week (blue line), over the past two weeks the conversion rate (the number of online customers that complete a sale) has remained pretty stable.

Online traffic/users were also down slightly last week (blue line), but when compared to the previous week (orange line), the traffic pattern was fairly stable as well.

If this pattern continues to hold for the next few weeks without any major fluctuations, this may be a good indicator of what bookstores will see as their baseline traffic and conversion rate going into the 4th quarter. That being said, 2020 has had a tendency to be anything but consistent when it comes to forecasting future online sales and traffic.
