Independent Bookstore Day: What Bookstores Mean to Customers

During the month of August, Libro.fm invited readers to share what their bookstore and Libro.fm mean to them to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day [29]. Over the month, Libro.fm received more than 100 powerful videos.

On Independent Bookstore Day, Libro.fm shared the winners and a highlights video [30] on its blog [31] and across social media, where it generated more than 10,000 views.

Winners, who chose between a $100 gift certificate at their bookstore or a 12-month Libro.fm membership, and their local stores are:

  • Amya Franklin, Square Books (Oxford, MS)
  • Chris Trew, Garden District Bookshop (New Orleans, LA)
  • Jarett Bonner, Tattered Cover (Denver, CO)
  • Talia Basma, Kepler’s Bookstore (Palo Alto, CA)
  • Valerie Wood-Lewis, Phoenix Books (Burlington, VT)
  • Vanessa Aldaz, Cafe Con Libros (Pomona, CA)

“More than ever, book lovers are making the conscious decision to support their local bookstores, whether in-person or online,” said Stephanie Ballien, director of marketing at Libro.fm. “We were blown away by the number of heartfelt videos we received, and heartened by the commitment to shop local for books and audiobooks.”
