Dear Booksellers,

What to Do

The ABA Board of Directors election is happening now. One person per ABA member store may vote. If you’re the designated voter, submit your store’s ballot now!

Stores that want to continue sending the Indie Next List e-newsletter to their customers, or stores that want to sign up for the free program, should head over to Matchbook Marketing’s Indie Next List page to upload their contact list and logo by April 5 to make it into the May mailing!

If you haven’t done it yet, there are two important surveys that all booksellers should fill out by the end of the day on Wednesday, March 31:

  • Evaluate the work of ABA’s CEO and staff over the past 12 months

  • Offer input for the ABA Board of Directors as it works to meet members’ needs in this survey from the Governance Review Committee

Sign up for Thursday’s Marketing Meetup, which will look at everything you need to know about Independent Bookstore Day. Get on the mailing list at the bottom of the Meetups page to get meeting links.

What to Know

Tuesday’s ShopTalk (formerly Coffee Break) will be held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET. Watch your inbox for an invite a few hours before the event.

The Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance is offering the 21-Day Racial Equity Challenge, a self-guided program open to any member of the book industry that delivers daily emails containing prompts for reflection, discussion, and action.

Booksellers can now submit a nomination for the ABC Best Books for Young Readers catalog via a new button in Edelweiss! Look for it right next to the button to submit to the Indie Next List. Catalog submissions can also be sent through the nomination form; we’re welcoming booksellers’ favorite titles now! If you’re interested in joining the bookseller selection committee, email ABC Manager Gen de Botton.

The virtual reading series Indies Present: A Universe of Wishes begins next Wednesday! Download the marketing materials from Bookweb.org to share it with your customers.

ABA is here for all of you. Please reach out if there is anything we can help with. Members can contact me directly or email the Membership, Advocacy, or IndieCommerce teams.

Best,
