Campaign Urges Swift Confirmation of New SBA Head [3]

In mid-January, President Obama nominated Maria Contreras-Sweet to head the Small Business Administration. Now, the Small Business Majority is asking business owners to sign a letter urging lawmakers to confirm her nomination [5] as soon as possible “so she can begin her work supporting small businesses and promoting a strong economy.”

In an e-mail to small business owners, SBM noted, “Contreras-Sweet’s diverse background includes working to expand access to capital and promoting small business job creation.” Her career includes founding ProAmérica Bank, a commercial bank focusing on small to mid-sized businesses with a specialty in the Latino community; being a founding director of The California Endowment; and working as cabinet secretary of the California Business, Transportation, and Housing Agency.

The letter in support of Contreras-Sweet’s confirmation states that her credentials “will be an asset in her new role as SBA administrator.” Access and sign the letter to lawmakers here [5].

SBM is also urging business owners to share the letter with their colleagues, as well as via social media.
