Nominating for the ABA Board takes just a few minutes via a web form that asks three questions: 

If you are nominating someone else:

  • In what capacity have you known and/or worked with this candidate?
  • What talents or experiences do you believe this person would bring to the ABA Board?
  • Does this nominee have at least three years of experience in bookselling? If known, please list this experience. (Approximate years and stores only.)

If you are nominating yourself:

  • In what capacity have you worked in the bookselling industry?
  • Do you have at least three years of experience in bookselling? If so, please list your experience. (Approximate years and stores only.)
  • What talent, background experience, or expertise would you bring to the ABA Board?

Interested in opening a bookstore or buying an existing one? 

Register now for Paz & Associates'  workshop “Introduction to Retail Bookselling,” which will take place at the 2022 Winter Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio. 

The workshop is open to all booksellers, but is limited to three booksellers per ABA member company. Admission to Winter Institute is optional but guaranteed; the $225 Wi2022 registration fee applies.

Join Small Business Rising and business owners across the country for a workshop and action event urging Congress to safeguard the right of small businesses to compete on a level playfield. Small Business Rising will be sharing the ins and outs of the Big Tech antitrust bills, answering questions, and taking action. There are two opportunities to attend these events: 

This October, participate in “Reimagining Bookstores,” a virtual meeting for discovering and sharing ideas about the future of bookselling.

This event is organized by Praveen Madan, CEO of Kepler's Books & Magazines in Menlo Park, California.

Sessions will take place on October 18 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm PT, and October 19, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm PT.

What to Read

Connie Griffin of Bookworks in Albuquerque, New Mexico, interviewed Elisabet Velasquez, author of Summer/Fall 2021 Indies Introduce selection When We Make It. Griffin called the book a “heart-breaking, heart-mending novel-in-verse.”
