Comment Period Open on SBA Expanding Size of What Constitutes a “Small” Business
The Small Business Administration (SBA) is proposing a radical overhaul of its size standards to determine which companies qualify as small businesses, potentially bringing over 114,000 additional firms under this designation.
Under the proposed Trump administration size standards, the definitions of “small” would expand dramatically to include private equity, venture capital, and investment-management firms with up to $1 billion in annual receipts, casinos with $744 million in annual revenue, advertising agencies with $543 million, and software companies with 3,600 employees, according to an article by the Institute for Local Self-Reliance.
Booksellers are encouraged to submit comments in opposition to the new definition.

Reminder: Tell Your Lawmakers to Oppose Censorship Bills
We are still keeping an eye on the three national censorship bills in Congress that are targeting federal education funding in ways that would impact schools’ book purchases and have ripple effects across the book industry.
Though they appear to have currently stalled, it’s crucial to let your lawmakers know you oppose these bills to ensure they are not added to some other legislative vehicle over the next few months.
