ABA has helped draft and signed a joint letter opposing US HR 7661, a national book ban bill, which is expected to reach the House floor as early as next week.

Organizational sign-on is open to interested bookstores; the letter can be read by members on BookWeb, and those authorized to sign on behalf of their bookstore can do so via this form.

And a reminder: if you haven’t yet, it’s a great time to email or call your US House Representative about the bill!

The ABA Education team is introducing new Need to Know resources! Need to Knows are concise guides that cover key facts, suggest next steps, and offer practical ideas for preparing your store. You’ll also find staff discussion questions, helpful links, and additional resources for deeper dives into each topic.

You can now find these Need to Knows on BookWeb in the Education Resource Library:

• 10 Ways to Prepare for Climate Change
• Own Your Space
• Preparing for ICE Raids in Your Community
• Succession Planning

Is there a topic you’d like to see a Need to Know focus on? Let us know!

This indie bookstore is filled with books, art supplies, local artwork, and goods from small creatives across the country! It’s the kind of place where creativity happens on paper: through books, sketchpads, and the tools to make something by hand.

Bluestocking's Annie Fitzpatrick spoke with us to tell us more about the store!

Bluestocking Social will also be participating in Indie Bookstore Day on April 25.

This April, we’re highlighting some of our mobile bookstore members. (April 10 is National Bookmobile Day!)
