ASSOCIATE MEMBER

Publishers must have an established and formal editorial review process that is used to evaluate manuscripts and only publishes books that meet their vision, mission, and quality standards. (Although ABA values self publishing services in the industry, ABA does not have the scope or the capacity to support them.) Must have at least four book titles available for sale to independent bookstores; each of those book titles must be written by an individual author; and books by one author must make up less than 10% of your overall list. Does your company meet those requirements?

Please note: Dues paid to the ABA are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for income tax purposes. However, they may be tax deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses subject to restrictions imposed as a result of association lobbying activities. ABA estimates that the non-deductible portion of your dues – i.e. the portion which is allocable to lobbying – is 5.2%.

Payment will not be deducted until application is processed by ABA staff.
