Of our survey respondents, 52.7% said their 2024 sales were up from 2023. (17.4% said their stores had not been open long enough to accurately compare for 2023 and 2024.)

Big web retailers and online marketplaces no longer have a near monopoly on selling books online. Since 2020, Independent bookstores on the IndieCommerce (IC) platform have seen a 580% increase in sales with over $200 million in online revenue for those bookstores.
