Speed-Dating for Book Group Picks Returns to BEA: Signup Required by May 18

On Friday, May 29, at BookExpo America, Carol Fitzgerald, president of ReadingGroupGuides.com, will emcee a speed-dating session designed to give booksellers, librarians, bloggers, and book group leaders a sneak peek at upcoming titles ideal for book group picks. Representatives from 27 publishers will share their selections at the event, along with galleys and other promotional materials. This year’s speed-dating session coincides with ReadingGroupGuide.com’s 15th anniversary, so Fitzgerald and her staff plan on making the event extra special.

“We’re excited to be sharing such a huge selection of books with our readers this year! With more publishers than ever before — we have 27 participants up from 19 last year — there’s bound to be something for everyone at an event that is always a huge success,” said Fitzgerald. “We got many notes after last year’s event from attendees telling us it was the highlight of their BEA experience.”

In addition to giving attendees the opportunity to network with publishers and learn about upcoming titles, Fitzgerald said, “the publishers appreciate the invaluable feedback that they hear from booksellers, librarians, book group leaders, and bloggers.”

“Great Book Group Titles for Fall/Winter: A Special Speed-Dating Session for Booksellers, Librarians, Bloggers and Book Group Leaders” will be held on Friday, May 29, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. in the Special Events Hall at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Advance signup is required by Monday, May 18, at noon ET. Seating will be assigned, so booksellers must sign up here to participate.
