New York: You Did It!

Great news! Your calls, emails, postcards, and legislative meetings worked: the Freedom to Read Act passed! Thank you to everyone who mobilized, shared links, and made their voice heard.

But here’s the thing. We’ve been here before. Last year, the bill passed, only to be vetoed at the final hurdle. When the time is right, we will ask you to write to Governor Hochul to urge her to sign this essential legislation.

In the meantime, if your assembly member and senator voted for this bill, please take a moment to thank them for their vote. It might not seem important, but this will help us next time we need to get lawmakers to act.

Massachusetts: We’re Almost There!

Thanks to the dedication and support of free expression advocates, including many of you, we are closing in on passage of “An Act Regarding Free Expression!” A floor vote could come at any time. If it hasn’t passed by the time you read this, please send your state legislators one last note letting them know to watch out for it.
