CCCA Fly-In

Thank you to the many booksellers who participated in our Washington, DC fly-in to support the Credit Card Competition Act (CCCA)!

Booksellers making their voices heard continue to move the needle on this important piece of legislation that could reduce credit card processing fees for independent bookstores and other small businesses.

Even if you couldn’t make it, you can still tell Congress to act on swipe fees.

Brooklyn Public Library Event

Thank you to the Brooklyn Public Library for hosting American Booksellers for Free Expression (ABFE) Associate Director Philomena Polefrone for “Unscripted: A Night Against Censorship”, a standing-room-only event on October 6 to launch Banned Books Week.

Polefrone joined the 2025 Banned Books Week Ambassador George Takei and representatives from the American Library Association (ALA), PEN America, and more to rally support for the right to read.

Unite Against Book Bans Webinar

Thank you to Unite Against Book Bans for hosting ABFE for “Policy as an Advocacy Tool: Tips for Booksellers, Librarians, and Community Advocates” on October 6!

Joined by representatives from ALA and National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC), Polefrone discussed different policies that can be put in place in bookstores to protect your right to curate (and what you can learn from library policies).

We will share the event recording when it is available.

Thank you MPIBA!

Thank you to Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association and booksellers for the great time in Denver at FallCon! ABFE and ABA team members will be at Heartland next as we wrap up our fall tour.
