Get Ready for ABACUS

It’s that time of year again: Time to complete ABACUS, ABA’s free annual financial benchmarking survey! This will be another full ABACUS report. We cannot stress enough how critical this data will be to stores and to ABA’s work supporting stores. Every year we strive towards making the ABACUS questionnaire easier and more user friendly. This year we have eliminated a number of questions to make completing the survey faster and more efficient.
The ABACUS report is filled with detailed information highlighting where your store falls across a range of areas, including profitability, productivity, and financial management. Using the ABACUS report is like adding a financial officer to your staff; it clearly highlights areas that need improvement, areas in which your store is succeeding, and everything in between. ABA and Industry Insights can help you every step of the way. This year's ABACUS is more important than ever as we establish the baseline coming out of COVID.
ABA’s Chief Financial Officer PK Sindwani will have workshops with step-by-step instructions on filling out the ABACUS questionnaire on:
  • Thursday, June 22, at 3:00 pm ET
  • Tuesday, June 27, at 12:00 pm ET
  • Thursday, July 6, at 5:00 pm ET
  • Wednesday, July 12, at 4:00 pm ET
  • Monday, July 17, at 6:00 pm ET

By June 9, ABACUS will be emailed to stores from [email protected] or [email protected] with the subject line “ABACUS Benchmarking Survey.” Booksellers
have until July 23 to submit their responses.
