This year for Pride Month, indie bookstores are putting up displays, posting on social media, holding events, and appearing at local celebrations. Here, some of our member stores shared how they are celebrating Pride.
All She Wrote Books
Somerville, MA
All She Wrote Books is hosting their second annual Pride Book Fair on Saturday, June 28! (Here's a video they put together with clips from last year's Pride Book Fair!)
In addition to this Book Fair, the store's calendar has plenty of other exciting Pride events.
Brilliant Books
Traverse City, MI
Brilliant Books in Traverse City held a Countdown to Pride event. The midnight launch party for Pride Month featured local performers, food trucks, an open mic poetry reading, and karaoke. The event even ended with a balloon drop at midnight!
Brilliant Books organized the event as a fundraiser for their local pride organization.
Charis Books & More
Decatur, GA
As a feminist and queer-owned bookstore, Charis Books & More offers queer & trans programming all year round. This Pride Month, Charis has a full schedule of events featuring authors, as well as books clubs and other group meetings (including a Gender-Creative Parenting Collective and Board Game Meetups for queer and trans teens!).
Just a few of the authors on the Charis schedule are Kaila Adia Story (The Rainbow Ain't Never Been Enuf), Fiona Zedde (Eve Falls First), Rob Franklin (Great Black Hope), and V. E. Schwab (Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil).
Peninsula Books
Daly City, CA
Peninsula Books will be hosting the Quiet Zone at their county's Pride celebration on June 14. They will provide free books and quiet activities for anyone who needs some time to decompress in between all the festivities in the park.

Germantown, MD
