TLDR: Your Checklist for Buzz Books Official Book Discovery

What is Buzz Books?

Buzz Books is Publishers Marketplace’s long-running forthcoming title sampler program with the stellar track record of featuring first looks at books that go on to become Indie Next and celebrity book club picks — with the mission, in addition to partnering with ABA, of helping make the process of discovering a wide variety of “make books” that are worthy candidates to become those featured picks. To do that, along with title excerpts, the free NetGalley and Edelweiss e-book editions include publishers’ detailed marketing information along with links to request full galleys, enabling stores to share previews and galleys across their entire staffs.

Now Publishers Marketplace has begun a major push to build the buzz even more!

In the last six months, Buzz Books has launched a fresh new website, rolled out the colorful Buzz Books Official seal, and launched a rapidly-growing Substack that has been embraced by authors, publishing people, librarians, and booksellers in the enormous book community there.

Buzz Books' mission is to create a vibrant community around books, and aim to identify and promote discovery of the key books on the horizon, partnering with publishers and authors in amplifying discovery of their buzzy titles.

How Does It Work?

Each season, Publishers Lunch puts out a call to publishers for their picks for the Season Preview. The responses are reviewed (along with an enormous quantity of publishers’ catalogs) in order to compile this list. Publishers also have a chance to indicate if they are interested in amplifying this listing with inclusion in the seasonal sampler — the one with thousands of 5-star reviews on NetGalley. All chosen titles are included in the Season Preview, while only those both selected by Publishers Lunch and included by publishers for the Buzz Books program are included in the Buzz Books sampler edition.
