As 2014 draws to a close, the many favorite titles that independent booksellers enthusiastically hand-sold and helped book buyers discover during the year are appearing across the year-end Indie Bestseller Lists.

Readers visiting the website of the public television program Well Read will now find IndieBound included as a purchasing option for featured titles.

The 2014 Indie Bestseller Lists, featuring the year’s top-selling titles at hundreds of independent bookstores nationwide, are now available in PDF, DOC, and HTML formats.

For the second year in a row, Indies First on Small Business Saturday was a strong day for independent bookstores, which saw unit sales of books rise 4.6 percent over 2013 for the week.

The second annual Indies First on Small Business Saturday marked the kickoff of the holiday shopping season for Main Street businesses, and with more than 420 bookstores hosting 1,200-plus author volunteers on Saturday, November 29, independent booksellers across the nation were celebrating in full swing.

ABA bookstore members that renew their dues for 2015 will have the choice of receiving a fresh copy of the iconic red-and-white “Eat Sleep Read Local” poster or one of two new versions — the classic styling in a horizontal design or a smaller, vertical poster with different styling.

Last year’s Indies First activities on Small Business Saturday garnered a lot of attention for independent booksellers, and more of the same is expected for this year’s celebrations on November 29. However, to keep the momentum going, stores need to add all of their Indies First and Upstream plans to the activity registry on BookWeb.org.
