Early next week, ABA will mail to bookstore members an envelope containing ballots to approve officers and elect directors to the ABA Board, as well as the brochure, "ABA Convention Programming at BookExpo America."

The mailing includes a cover letter from ABA Nominating Committee Chair Cathy Langer of Tattered Cover Bookstore in Denver, Colorado, biographical data on the Board candidates, the ABA programming brochure, and a special postage-paid envelope for return of the ballots to ABA's accountant, KPMG.

The Board ballot includes the names of Russ Lawrence of Chapter One Book Store in Hamilton, Montana, for President, and Gayle Shanks of Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe, Arizona, for Vice-President/Secretary. The director candidates listed on the ballot are Changing Hands' Shanks; Becky Anderson of Anderson's Bookshop in Naperville and Downers Grove, Illinois; and Beth Puffer of Bank Street Bookstore in New York City. Space is also provided on the ballot (as per ABA's bylaws) to include write-in candidates.

Board ballots must be postmarked by Monday, April 17, 2006, and returned in the postage-paid envelope addressed to KPMG. Ballots received by KPMG after April 24 will not be counted.
