The American Booksellers Association is sponsoring two Emerging Leaders Scholarships covering the cost of registration for this year's BookExpo America in New York City and up to a five-night hotel stay at Hotel ABA, the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. Booksellers at ABA member bookstores who are committed to furthering the success of independent bookselling are encouraged to apply.

The Emerging Leaders Project is the brainchild of four ABA member booksellers who recognized "the need to deliberately retain, develop, and support the industry's future innovators and leaders."

Applications for ABA's Emerging Leaders Scholarships may be submitted via e-mail by candidates themselves or by booksellers' employers. The bookseller or employer should include a brief letter explaining why the applicant would be considered to be an Emerging Leader. Applications should also include the nominee's and the nominator's name, e-mail address, phone number, and store name and location.

The scholarship will include the cost of registration and hotel; however, the applicant will be responsible for all other expenses, including travel and meals. Applications should be sent to ABA Education Coordinator Lisa Winn at [email protected] by Tuesday, May 1.
