What is the Retailer Coupon Program?
Scholastic Book Fairs is running a program for students to pre-order Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. At the time of purchase, for the full retail price of $29.99, a customer will receive a collectible baseball cap and an official certificate of purchase. Beginning June 21st, the holder of this certificate may redeem the certificate for a copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at participating retailers.

What are the benefits of becoming a participating retailer?
Retailers who choose to participate in this program will receive the following benefits:

  1. $20 will be credited on the retailer's HarperCollins account for each certificate redeemed.
  2. 10 units of a collectible Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix baseball cap will be sent to each participating retail location.
  3. Retailer Coupon Program drives customers into the retailer's store.
  4. Store name, address, and phone number will be posted on the Scholastic website at www.scholastic.com/bookfairs/harrypotter

How can a retailer become a participant in this program?
Retailers who would like to participate should do the following:

  1. Sign up online at the Harry Potter Bookseller Desk at: www.scholastic.com/custsupport/booksellers/hpv.htm Retailers who do not have Internet access should contact their sales representative.
  2. Sign-up deadline is April 30, 2003.

How will a participating retailer receive the 10 collectible baseball caps?
After a retailer has signed up with Scholastic as a participant in the program, the caps will be sent directly to each store location prior to the June 21, 2003 on-sale date. The caps should be distributed at the retailer's discretion in order to promote the sale of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (through raffles, sweepstakes prizes, etc.).
Please note: the caps must be distributed free of charge.

How can a retailer keep track of the number of books that have been distributed to customers who have redeemed an official certificate of purchase?
The certificate includes a coupon that includes both an EAN and a UPC barcode. Additionally, the certificate is designed so that the coupon portion can be separated from the rest of the certificate (perforated for ease of separation). The coupon portion should be saved for the retailer's records (and later to be sent back to Scholastic as proof of credit) and the remainder of the certificate should be returned to the customer. Note: coupon expires June 21, 2004.

How will a retailer receive the $20 credit per book?
Participating retailers must save the coupon portion of the certificate of purchase after it has been redeemed in their store. Retailers should collect the coupons and mail with a completed Coupon Redemption Form. We recommend that retailers send the coupons and form via certified mail, as proof of redemption is necessary for credit. Please note that one of the items on the form includes "Number of Coupons enclosed". This number must match the number of coupons included in the mailing. Note: the Coupon Redemption Form and address will be available at Harry Potter Bookseller Desk at www.scholastic.com/custsupport/booksellers/hpv.htm

If a retailer has an account with HarperCollins, the account will be credited on a monthly basis and reflected on the monthly statement. If a retailer does not have an account with HarperCollins, the retailer will receive a check. Checks will be processed monthly.
