Due to the "warm welcome the book community gave to its 50th anniversary calendar," the International Booksellers Federation (IBF), a non-governmental organization of booksellers associations and booksellers from around the world, announced this week that the IBF calendar for 2008 is in preparation.

The theme for the new calendar is "Inside the Bookshop" and will feature between 40 to 48 photos of bookshops' interiors. IBF is asking those who wish to send in photos to "be imaginative" and to send photos of "anything dealing with the Bookshop Interior and Bookshop life." New this year, not only IBF Full Members, but also IBF Associate Members can take part in the competition and submit photos.

ABA bookseller members are encouraged to submit photos for the calendar.

As a full IBF member organization, ABA is working with IBF to collect photographs from member bookstores in the U.S. for possible inclusion in the commemorative calendar. ABA member stores wishing to be considered for the calendar must upload their store photos to the Bookstore Photo Gallery forum or mail a CD to ABA, Attn.: Jill Perlstein, 200 White Plains Road, Tarrytown, NY 10591.

Photos must be submitted in the following format: TIFF or JPG format; 250 DPI -- 2953 x 2953 pixels; and booksellers should provide the name of the store, the full address, and contact details. Booksellers can send a maximum of two bookstore interior photos. The deadline for photo submissions is February 5, 2007.

The IBF 2008 Calendar will be available in spring 2007. For more information, contact ABA Marketing Director, Jill Perlstein at [email protected] or call (800) 637-0037, ext. 6642 for more information.
