Today, the American Booksellers Association opens registration for the 2008 Hotel ABA in Los Angeles, accommodations exclusively for ABA bookstore and provisional members attending BookExpo America. Hotel ABA, The Renaissance Hollywood, offers booksellers a special room rate, great accommodations, and an extraordinary package of other benefits. The hotel will be the site of the association's Day of Education as well as several ABA- and publisher-sponsored special events, beginning on Wednesday, May 28. The BEA trade show will be held from Thursday, May 29, through Sunday, June 1, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

"ABA is very pleased to once again offer our member booksellers accommodations at a great hotel at a very reasonable rate," said COO Oren Teicher. "Hotel rates everywhere are creeping upwards, but we were able to negotiate a very good deal for the 2008 Hotel ABA compared to the rates at other L.A. hotels during BEA. We are also planning a number of special events at the hotel that will be announced in the coming weeks."

Teicher added, "Based on the sellouts at last year's Hotel ABA and at the upcoming Winter Institute, we are encouraging booksellers who would like to stay at the 2008 Hotel ABA to register as soon as possible."

The Renaissance Hollywood's special nightly room rate of $164 is available to ABA bookstore and provisional members for Wednesday, May 28, through Sunday, June 1. The rate is available until May 5 or until the group block is sold out, whichever comes first. Booksellers must make their reservations via the hotel's dedicated reservation webpage for ABA members. Rooms are reserved for ABA members only, and ABA has the right to cancel reservations made by non-members.

Festivities for ABA members will begin on Wednesday afternoon with special Hollywood-related activities. ABA's Day of Education will be held on Thursday, May 29, at the hotel. On Friday, the trade show opens, and so too will ABA's booksellers-only lounge at the convention center. Over the course of the trade show, the association will be offering additional networking opportunities and information sessions at the convention center.

In addition to dedicated shuttle bus service between the hotel and the convention center, Hotel ABA guests will have the option of using the Los Angeles Metro, which has a stop just a few-minutes walk from the Renaissance Hollywood. ABA will be providing complimentary Metro passes to booksellers registered at Hotel ABA.

Questions about membership status should be addressed to ABA Program Assistant Margaret Nafz at [email protected]. Once reservations have been made via the hotel website, questions and requests for changes should be addressed to the hotel directly at (866) 835-7681.

Registration for the BEA trade show is scheduled to open around the end of December. Watch for updates on ABA and BEA trade show plans in upcoming editions of BTW.
