In preparation for the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on July 21, Scholastic has launched a campaign centered on the seven most frequently asked questions regarding the content of the final volume in J.K. Rowling's record-breaking series and the fate of the characters that readers have grown to love -- or feel otherwise about -- since the publication of the first book in 1998.

Scholastic recently sent stores a campaign kit that includes a pack of promotional buttons for store employees and seven envelopes, each with instructions as to the date it should be opened. In each envelope is a table-top tent card and a packet of collectible bookmarks highlighting one of the seven questions to be used for a consumer giveaway. The first envelope is to be opened on Tuesday, April 17, with subsequent envelopes to be opened and new materials displayed every two weeks, culminating on July 7.

Scholastic is asking booksellers to follow the schedule as requested in order to build excitement and to encourage customers to return to the store regularly to discover each new question and collect all seven bookmarks.

If you did not receive a "7 Questions of Harry Potter Campaign" kit, a limited number of extra kits are available. Send requests to Book Sense Marketing Director Mark Nichols at [email protected].
