Indie Next List logoThis fall, the American Booksellers Association will launch a new annual Indie Next List Holiday Gift Guide flier, which will feature the top adult and children’s gift books across a range of categories, as recommended by independent booksellers.

The 2017 flier will be distributed to stores in the November Red Box (arriving in stores by mid-November). The double-sided, four-color flier will be branded with the Indie Next List logo, and each featured title will be accompanied by cover art and a quote from one of the nominating booksellers recommending the book.

Through September 30, booksellers at ABA member stores in good standing are encouraged to nominate their favorite frontlist gift book recommendations in the following categories using the Indie Next List Holiday Gift Guide nominations form:

    • Photography/art books
    • Cookbooks
    • Visual travel books
    • Novelty books
    • Stocking stuffers
    • Other gift books

Booksellers are asked to use the dedicated holiday nomination form to help ABA keep tracking separate from the monthly Indie Next List nominations; however, the usual methods (Edelweiss, NetGalley, the standard Indie Next List nomination form, and e-mails to the Indie Next List inbox) will also be considered. Publishers are also invited to collect and forward bookseller nominations.

With the special holiday nomination form, booksellers are able to nominate up to six titles at a time and are welcome to reuse the form to submit additional titles. As with all Indie Next List publications, booksellers may nominate as many titles as they like, but only one nomination per title per bookseller will be counted.

Nominations for the Indie Next List Holiday Gift Guide flier will be accepted through September 30.

Questions about the new flier can be directed to ABA Director of Development and Publisher Relations Matthew Zoni.
