A Few Timely Reminders About Winter Institute 12
Here are just a things to keep in mind in the coming weeks regarding Winter Institute 12 (Wi12):
-
October 28 is the deadline for booksellers at ABA member stores that did not have a Winter Institute scholarship winner in 2015 or 2016 to apply for a publisher-sponsored scholarship. Booksellers can apply for a scholarship even if they are not registered for Wi12. Scholarships will cover the conference fee, up to four nights’ accommodations at the host hotel, and transportation expenses up to $400. Booksellers at the fall regional trade shows can earn an extra chance at winning a scholarship by dropping off their business cards at the ABA booth on the show floor. Scholarship winners will be announced in November.
-
On November 1, registration will open for several special Winter Institute and pre-Institute programs. Programs taking place on Friday, January 27, before the Wi12 opening reception include Bookstore Tours, the IndieCommerce Institute, and the Leadership Workshop; each requires a separate registration fee. Also opening on November 1 is registration for special programming during the institute for which there is no additional fee: the Bookstore Finance Seminar and Advanced Education Sessions for owners and managers.
-
Registration for the Winter Institute is currently full; however, booksellers can add their names to a waitlist here. The Wi12 hotel block has also reached capacity; booksellers should add their names to the hotel waitlist here; an overflow hotel block has been secured. All requests for hotel accommodations must be submitted to ABA Meetings and Planning Officer Jill Perlstein via the hotel waitlist form. Cancellation requests should be sent to [email protected].
- The list of authors appearing at Wi12 is being updated on an ongoing basis. Booksellers are encouraged to check out the growing list of participating authors here.
