W.W. Norton is printing a limited run of a special edition of Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman expressly for Independent Bookstore Day, which takes place this year on Saturday, April 29.
Booksellers can submit orders now through Norton; the title is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The price of $25.95 for a 10-copy carton will remain the same, but the special edition uses the separate ISBN 9780393651256. It will begin shipping on Wednesday, April 19, so orders received before that date should deliver by April 29. The special edition will ship free of freight regardless of minimums and is fully returnable to all accounts regardless of their normal terms of sale with Norton.
Booksellers who do not have an account with Norton can contact (800) 233-4830 (phone); (800) 458-6515 (fax); or firstname.lastname@example.org.
While there is no official on-sale date for the special edition, booksellers are encouraged to hold their sales for Independent Bookstore Day for the greatest effect. Gaiman is expected to share details about the special edition with fans on or ahead of Independent Bookstore Day.
In addition, booksellers have until Sunday, April 16, to enter to win a customized John Waters poster to promote Independent Bookstore Day. Algonquin Books has teamed with Waters, the film director, screenwriter, and author of the newly released Make Trouble, to create an eye-catching, 18" x 24" poster.
Algonquin will raffle off 10 personalized posters to bookstores that enter. All entries must be received by Sunday, April 16; Algonquin will ship posters to the winning stores the same week.
