Attending Virtual Winter Institute requires use of the Zoom desktop client. Before the event starts, make sure you’re using the latest version (do this now!). At a minimum, you want to be using Version 5.7.6 (regardless of OS or device).
Free up your device’s bandwidth by closing down other applications or unused browser tabs.
Using headphones? If you’re participating in an online conversation, they’re a good idea and can prevent echo and feedback. Make sure they’re plugged in or connected to the right device. If you’re not using headphones, make sure they’re disconnected.
Having trouble with your audio or video? Check out this YouTube video for the basics on Zoom audio and video settings.
When all else fails, close the Zoom desktop client and rejoin the event from the invitation you’ll receive the week of the event!
For more information on using Zoom Events as an attendee, including prerequisites, signing in, how to navigate, and controls, visit Zoom’s support site.
Tech troubles can be emailed to eventtech@bookweb.org and the ABA team will be on hand to assist.
