Resources are now available to help booksellers promote the titles in the 2015 ABC Best Books for Young Readers Catalog, which is scheduled to begin arriving in stores next week.

For the seventh consecutive season, publishers are offering specials on 10 adult titles and 10 children’s titles chosen by panels of booksellers from across the U.S. as the top upcoming debuts.

At Wednesday’s Nielsen Children’s Book Summit, publishers, booksellers, and readers gathered to discuss industry trends and insights. Among the event’s panels was one featuring indie booksellers, which focused on the importance of bricks-and-mortar retailing to the children’s book market.

Last week, author Patrick Ness launched a fundraiser to support Save the Children, a U.K.-based charity assisting children caught in the current refugee crisis. Contributions have come from publishers and authors, plus one bookseller who is challenging fellow indies to donate. 

Independent bookstores are teaming up with Macmillan on a nationwide food drive to address childhood hunger in their local communities. The campaign is part of a promotion for the novel Crenshaw by Newbery Medalist and Animorphs series creator Katherine Applegate.

Booksellers now have until next Thursday, September 10, to place their orders for additional copies of the 2015 ABC Best Books for Young Readers Catalog.
