The Affordable Care Act was signed into law in March 2010, and ABA continues to monitor the law's implementation in an effort to provide members with up-to-date information on how to make the most of new provisions in the law. Following the 2012 ruling of the Supreme Court, which declared most of the law to be constitutional, ABA will provide members the latest news on the implementation of state health insurance exchanges, tax credits, and any other relevant news related to health care – and will alert members to important related issues about which they may want to make their views known to their elected officials.
Key components of the Affordable Care Act— including an individual mandate that requires everyone to have health insurance by January 1, 2014 or to pay a penalty—are now rolling out.
