Beginning this week, the Small Business Majority will host a webinar series aimed at clarifying healthcare provisions affecting small businesses. The series, “What the Healthcare Law Means for Your Small Business,” continues through December.

On October 22, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released new guidance regarding Section 1332 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which pertains to State Innovation Waivers. According to a CMS letter sent to governors, the new guidance “gives states greater flexibility to adopt new state health care programs, enhance consumer choice, and strengthen their health insurance markets” and empowers states to waive certain ACA requirements.

Critics of the new guidance argue that these rules represent the Trump administration’s latest attempt to undermine the ACA. Larry Levitt, senior vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation, told Business Insider that “Republicans couldn’t repeal and replace the ACA last year, but this guidance gives states flexibility to shift the law in much the same way.”

The Small Business Majority webinar series will provide an overview of both federal and state provisions, including the new guidance, that affect small businesses. It will also provide tools and resources for small businesses interested in learning more about healthcare law. Webinars will be held at 6:00 p.m. EST on November 1, November 8, November 15, December 6, and December 13
