Toadstool Bookshops owner Willard Williams recently found out what more than 400 of his customers think about e-books and e-readers.
Williams received more than 400 responses to an online survey sent to customers of his three New Hampshire bookstores. Among the key findings: Ten percent of the survey respondents own e-readers. In addition to asking customers whether they own e-readers, the survey also asked questions about e-books, the store's e-commerce site, and the physical bookstores.
When Follett Higher Education Group announced a new textbook rental program open to independent bookstores, "we instantly had people signing up," said senior vice president of intellectual properties Gary Shapiro.
Booksellers at ABA member stores can now make reservations for the Park Central, the official "ABA Hotel" for BookExpo America 2010. The Park Central's location, just 20 blocks north of New York's Javits Convention Center, near Times Square, provides easy access to the trade show and ABA and BEA educational programming and special events.

Back Pages Books Publishes Two Titles
As part of its fifth-anniversary celebration, Back Pages Books is publishing two new books through its Back Pages Publishers division. "The books…reflect our commitment to the idea that bookstores had things right a few hundred years back when they were also local printers," store owner Alex Green wrote in an e-mail.
President Obama Mentions Prairie Lights in Health Care Speech
