The Booksellers Association of the United Kingdom & Ireland (BA) will be launching an IndieBound marketing campaign for members of its Independent Booksellers Forum in early 2010.

Twenty-two booksellers have been named the recipients of publisher-sponsored scholarships to the American Booksellers Association's Fifth Annual Winter Institute, sponsored by Ingram.

The American Booksellers Association and the National Association of College Stores (NACS) have announced a new joint promotion that will offer increased benefits and services to members of both associations. Members of ABA can buy a membership in NACS, and NACS members can buy membership in ABA, for the special rate of $100.

The American Booksellers Association Board of Directors held its 2009 fall meeting in Tarrytown, New York, from Sunday, October 11, through Tuesday, October 13.

Over the course of the two and a half days of meetings, the Board:

The American Booksellers Association recently received registered trademark protection for the IndieBound logo. Accordingly, the association has added the registered trademark symbol -- ® -- to the IndieBound and IndieBound.org logos in the Bookseller DIY. Over the course of the next several weeks, ABA will be updating all of the many IndieBound graphics in the Bookseller DIY to reflect this new status.

Our thanks to the hundreds of booksellers who took part in last month's ABA Information Department Survey. The results and thoughtful comments provided by the many respondents will help guide the future of Bookselling This Week, the Book Buyer's Handbook, Bookweb.org, and ABA's other information vehicles over the coming months.

As part of its continuing efforts to improve member services, the American Booksellers Association is asking booksellers to complete a short online survey regarding the monthly IndieBound Red Box and White Box mailings. A link to the survey was e-mailed to member stores by ABA Chief Marketing Officer Meg Smith on Tuesday, October 13, and is accessible here with a BookWeb user name and password.

The American Booksellers Association looks forward to seeing booksellers at the Southern California Independent Booksellers Association Authors Feast & Trade Show on Saturday, October 24.

Booksellers' responses will help guide the development of materials and resources that ABA provides to members on an ongoing basis.
