ABACUS Deadline August 15

Only six weeks remain till the August 15 deadline for ABA member bookstores to join the 2007 ABACUS study.

Completing the easy-to-use ABACUS survey form takes about an hour, and, in return, booksellers receive both $50 off their ABA dues and invaluable information that can help them evaluate and formulate plans to improve a store's financial performance.

Each ABA member bookstore participating in the study receives a customized report with detailed analysis of their store's financial results; comparisons with other stores based on more than 20 different criteria; an executive summary of the study's key findings; key insights into the drivers of independent bookstore profitability; year-to-year trends data; and opportunities to participate in ancillary studies.

New this year, a downloadable Excel spreadsheet enables booksellers to organize information from their financial statements so that it matches the categories on the ABACUS form.
