Booksellers can buy their tickets now for the ABC/CBC Speed Dating Tea, where members of the ABC Children’s Group at ABA and friends of CBC will enjoy a lively tea with nearly a dozen children’s book authors as they pitch their new projects. The deadline for preregistration is Wednesday, May 22.

ABC Children's Group Manager Gen de Botton told BTW she was excited to enjoy a cup of tea with the wonderful children's book authors and illustrators presenting at this year's event. Said de Botton, "Have you ever fantasized about getting the chance to sit down with your favorite author over a cuppa and pick their brain about their writing process, what they’re working on…their favorite EVERYTHING? Or wondered what it would be like to have a party with up-and-coming writers to talk about life, the industry, and how black-and-white cookies are neither cookie nor cake? I definitely have! And I am excited to live out these fantasies at this year's ABC/CBC Speed Dating Tea; there is such a good line-up of authors and illustrators this year, that I think maybe, just maybe, we can resolve that black-and-white cookie question."

This year’s featured authors include:

  • Tami Charles and Jacqueline Alcantara, Freedom Soup (Candlewick)
  • Elisha Cooper, River (Orchard Books)
  • Ashley Elston, 10 Blind Dates (Disney-Hyperion)
  • Kimberly Jones and Gilly Segal, I’m Not Dying with You Tonight (Sourcebooks Fire)
  • Pat Mora, Singing Nana (Magination Press)
  • Brittney Morris, SLAY (Simon Pulse)

  • Morgan Parker, Who Put this Song on? (Delacorte Press)
  • Jen Wang, Stargazing (First Second)
