This year, Diwali falls on Sunday, November 12 and we asked our members to share photos of their Diwali book displays in celebration. Here are some of the beautiful Diwali displays bookstores shared with us!

Little Shop of Stories

Little Shop of Stories in Decatur, Georgia, shared this photo of their display, and told us they will be celebrating with a themed story time and craft.

“This has become an annual event for us — we think it’s really important that children see all holidays celebrated, especially this time of year,” said owner Diane Capriola.

RJ Julia Booksellers in Madison, CT

RJ Julia Booksellers in Madison, Connecticut, shared these gorgeous photos of their displays.

“We have a wonderful customer base that loves to explore different cultures and loves to see the culture that is part of their heritage represented. I think it’s a joyous holiday while the days are getting shorter and candles are being lit more often,” said RJ Julia’s book buyer, Jamie McCauley.

South Main Book Company

And this lovely display from South Main Book Company in Salisbury, North Carolina, showcases titles for all ages.

“I lived in India for many years and enjoyed celebrating Diwali with friends while I was there. I believe very strongly in the core message of the holiday — for light to shine in the darkness and bring truth where before there was ignorance. I hope my bookstore is a good reflection of that principle at all times, not just for certain holidays, and I hope my customers and neighbors are able to use my store to brighten their own lights,” said owner Alissa Redmond.
