Booksellers interested in attending the 2020 ABC Children’s Institute have until the end of the day today, December 4, to submit their names for the chance to win a scholarship that will cover the conference fee, the cost of airfare or ground transportation up to $400, and four hotel nights plus tax.
The American Booksellers Association’s eighth Children’s Institute (Ci8) will be held in Tucson, Arizona, from Monday, June 22, through Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Registration for the institute is scheduled to open in February.
ABA aims to make Children’s Institute as welcoming and inclusive as possible and is committed to awarding scholarships to booksellers from all backgrounds. ABA encourages booksellers who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and/or neurodivergent as well as booksellers with disabilities to apply. To assist the scholarship awarding process, booksellers are invited to share what informs their experience as a bookseller, whether in terms of race, class, gender, sexual identity, physical ability, cultural background, or in some other way, and why they feel they should be awarded a scholarship to Children’s Institute.
Scholarships are open to booksellers from ABA member stores that did not have a Children’s Institute scholarship winner in 2018 or 2019. The deadline to apply is today, December 4, 2019. Apply now.
