The Principles of Bookstore Finance” seminar, which has been presented by the American Booksellers Association at a number of events, is available now for booksellers to access on BookWeb.org.

The seminar covers the fundamentals of budgeting, understanding cash flow, business financing, bookkeeping, and financial statements as well as strategies for achieving higher profits and improving cash flow. It was presented this fall at the Mountains & Plains and Heartland regional trade shows, at the 2018 and 2017 Winter Institutes, and at the 2016 New Atlantic and Northern California regional trade shows.

Booksellers who attended any of the seminars, or booksellers who have accessed the presentation on BookWeb, are asked to let ABA Education Manager Lisa Winn know if they have successfully put any of the session’s tips or tricks into practice.

The presentation and related educational materials are available now in ABA’s Education Resources on BookWeb. Booksellers will need a BookWeb login to access the files; e-mail [email protected] for login details.

The Principles of Bookstore Finance seminar concentrated on bookstore finances as opposed to bookstore accounting, so while it is helpful to be familiar with basic bookstore finances, deep financial experience is not required to understand the information provided.
