Publishers are once again offering specials on 10 adult titles and 10 children’s titles chosen by panels of ABA member booksellers from across the U.S. as the top debuts of the upcoming publishing season.
The Summer/Fall 2017 Indies Introduce program features titles for adults and for middle grade and young adult readers, all publishing between June and November 2017.
Of this season’s selection process, Quail Ridge Books’ Sarah Goddin, the chair of the Adult Debut panel, said, “To get a stack of typed manuscript pages by an unpublished author and dive into it without preconceptions was both a liberating experience and a responsibility that all the panelists took very seriously…. We’re enormously proud of these 10 books, passionately whittled down from a much longer list, and hope that you, too, will embrace the opportunity to introduce 10 new and compelling voices to your customers and the world.”
The chair of the Middle Grade/Young Adult Debut panel, Lauren Savage of The Reading Bug, said, “Reading all of these new books before anyone else in their raw form (sometimes bound by paperclips!) was so much fun and makes you feel like part of the writing process. It was challenging and exciting to read so many debut novels all at once, knowing that we would be deciding what our fellow booksellers across the country will handsell to their customers next season.”
For stores that have taken part in past Indies Introduce promotions, there’s no need to sign up to take advantage of publishers’ Summer/Fall offers; however, stores that are new to Indies Introduce must complete the Indies Introduce sign-up form by June 9 in order to participate in the program.
To access the list of titles with bookseller blurbs and full details on publishers’ offers, booksellers will need a BookWeb.org login name and password. Booksellers can sign in or create a new password here. The Indies Introduce logo is available for download in BookWeb’s DIY and sell sheets will be included in the June Red Box mailing.
