Regional Associations Offer "Eat. Sleep. Read." Calendar

Nine regional booksellers associations have joined to create a page-a-day calendar that promotes the IndieBound movement, launched by the American Booksellers Association at BookExpo America 2008. The regional associations plan to use profits from sales of the calendar, which is available exclusively to independent bookstores, to support member programming.

The 2010 calendar features book-related trivia questions provided by indie booksellers across the country and includes titles appearing on the Indie Next lists and its predecessor, the Book Sense Picks. The IndieBound message is featured on every page.

The project was spearheaded by Eileen Dengler, executive director of the New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association, and was developed with the assistance of Joe Drabyak of Chester County Book & Music Company in West Chester, Pennsylvania; Carol Besse of Carmichael's Bookstore in Louisville, Kentucky; and Sherri Gallante of Vroman's in Pasadena, California.

Ordering information can be found on the websites of the participating regionals: NAIBA; Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association, Midwest Booksellers Association, Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association, New England Independent Booksellers Association, Northern California Independent Booksellers Association, Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association, Southern California Independent Booksellers Association, and Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance.
